UGANDA BIRDING SAFARIS,UGANDA BIRD WATCHING SAFARIS

Uganda is an equatorial country with an amazing diversity of Habitats, which are a home to over 1.500 species of birds. There are numerous endemics like the Shoe bill stork, African green Broadbill, Ruwenzori, Purcell's illadopsis, turaco Black bee eater, Nahans francolin, Red fronted anti pecker, Green-breasted pitta and many more, which are some of the most sought after birds.

BIRD SITES INCLUDE:

Entebbe Botanical gardens: These are beautifully landscaped gardens located in Entebbe lying on the shores of Lake Victoria. The tall trees and bushes are a home to Red chested sunbirds, Grey headed Gull, Woodland Kingfisher, Black and white casqued Hornbill, African fish Eagle, Lizard Buzzard, Grey Kestrel, Angola Swallow, Grey capped warbler, Open billed stock, Hadada Ibis, Malachite Kingfisher etc.

Mabamba Swamp: This is located on the shores of lake Victoria with species like the White winged warbler, Shoebill, Great white Pelicans, papyrus Gonelek, Saddle billed stock, Common Squacco, Black-billed Turaco, Swamp Flycatcher, Purple Swamp hen, Woodland Warbler, Fire-crested Althea, Hair-breasted Barbet, Lemon Dove, Blue-shouldered Robin-chat,Blue-breasted kingfisher, African fish Eagle, White-spotted Fluff tail and many more.

Lake Mburo National Park: Dominated by tall grass savanna, thorn thickets along the water course and acacia woodland, the park is a habitat to Coqui Francolin, Black-bellied Bustard, Black-headed Weaver, Morning Dove, Lilac-breasted Roller, Helmeted Guineafowl, Ring-necked Dove, Rufous-napped Lark, Grey-capped Warbler, Brown-chested Lapwing,African Fin foot etc

Mgahinga Gorilla National park: Situated in the extreme south-western corner of Uganda near the Virunga volcanoes, the park is a home to Dusky turtle Dove, Handsome francolin, Rwenzori Turacco, Malachite sunbird, Kivu Ground thrush, White tailed Blue fly-catcher, Alpine chat, montane double collared sunbird, Lagden’s Bush Shrike etc

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: This offers some of the finest montane forest Birding of East Africa. With over 357 bird species which also the Albertine rift Endemics, the park has a variety which includes Forest Robin, Red-throated Alethe, Black Bee-eater, Equatorial Akalat, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Black-faced Rufous Warbler, Collared pails, yellow-eyed black flycatcher, Montane Oriole, Slender-billed Greenbul, Kiev gerund thrush, Rwenzori batis, African Broadbill, Mountain Illadopsis, Pale-breasted Illadopsis, Pettit's Cuckoo shrike, Grey-throated Barbet, Narina's Trogon, Archer's Robin chat, Luehder's Bush-shrike, Yellow-streaked Green bull,Queen Elizabeth National Park: This most scenic park and popular game reserve has over 600 bird species including the shoebill stork, white-winged warbler, Pygmy-goose, papyrus Gonolek, Red-necked Falcon, Leaf-love, black bee eater, Black-billed Barbet, White-headed Barbet, Yellow Bishop, flamingoes, Lesser Swamp-warbler, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, African skimmer etc

Kibale National Park: The park has about 400 species including white bellied crested flycatcher masker, Scaly Francolin,  red chested fluff tail, Red winged francolin, white napped pigeon, grey winged pigeon, grey throated fly catcher, Green-backed Twin spot, Black-bellied Seed cracker, Olive Long-tailed Cuckoo, Uganda woodland warbler, White-napped Pigeon, Narina's Trogon, chestnut-winged, white-napped pigeon, Abyssinian ground thrush, Bi- colored Manikin, African pita, Joyful green bull, Marsh Tchagra etc
